Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and three other top officials of Grameen Telecom have been sentenced to six months' imprisonment in a labour law violation case.
Sheikh Merina Sultana, chairman of the Third Labour Court of Dhaka, delivered the verdict on Monday.
After the verdict, Yunus and the three other officials filed separate bail petitions, and the judge granted them bail.
On September 9, 2021, the Department of Inspection of Factories and Institutions filed a case against four persons including Dr. Muhammad Yunus, chairman of Grameen Telecom in the Third Labor Court of Dhaka for violating labor laws.
The remaining three accused are former managing director of the company Ashraful Hasan, director Noor Jahan Begum and Mohammad Shahjahan.
