Bangladesh brought their ICC Under-19 World Cup campaign back on track with a convincing eight-wicket win over Canada in their second Group A match at the Conaree Sports Club on Thursday.
Right-arm pacer Ripon Mondol and off-spinner SM Meherab claimed four wickets each to bundle out Canada for 136 . Anoop Chima top-scored with 63 off 117 balls but after him, Canada’s next best scorer was the innings extras, 15 runs. Earlier, the defending champions lost to England by eight wickets in their opening match on January 16.
Bangladesh will play their third and final group-stage match against the UAE on Saturday, where a win will ensure them a spot in the Super League quarterfinals. Anoop hung to push the score beyond 100 before edging out to Mondol and the Canada innings folded soon after his departure.
