State Minister for Water Resources, Farhad Hossain Azad has said, the government will undertake a canal expansion program, within the next 15 days, involving general public, administration, and several ministries.
The minister also said, water bodies that have been overstepped upon,and will also be released promptly.
He came up with the statement in a meeting at Panchagarh Circuit House on Thursday night.
The minister stated that, the canal expansion program initiated by former President Ziaur Rahman between 1977 and 1981 would be revived.
Additionally, a tree plantation program will be launched, taking weather and environmental considerations into account.
