5.2 Magnitude earthquake hits Northern Iran

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake has struck northern Iran, according to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geo-sciences.

The quake was recorded at 5:49 am local time, with the epi-center located 35 kilometers southwest of Semnan and at a depth of 10 kilometers.

 

 

Iran experiences around 2 thousand 100 earthquakes annually, with about 15 to 20 of them  measuring 5.0 or higher.

 

 

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or major damage from this latest tremor.

 

 

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, as Iran remains one of the most seismically active countries in the world.
