7 dead as heavy rain batters India’s Delhi, red alert issued

Heavy rain has battered Delhi on Wednesday killing at least 7 people, as most parts of the city is waterlogged and traffic movement severely affected, with citizens left stranded for hours.

Delhi schools have been ordered to stay closed on Thursday.

 

 

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued advisory, urging Delhi residents to avoid going out until necessary.

 

 

The IMD has issued a ‘red alert’ in Delhi till 8:30 am today followed by an orange alert for the next 24 hours.

 

 

The IMD forecasts that rainy conditions will persist until August 5.
