The incident happened in 2020 in Tamil Nadu, when father Jeyraj and his son Benix died while in detention.

The two were arrested during the COVID-19 lockdown for allegedly keeping their mobile phone shop open.

 While in police custody, they were tortured and later died.

The court said the father and son were stripped and brutally beaten in front of each other.

The judge called it “a clear abuse of power” and said the officers acted with intent to kill.

Last month, the accused were already found guilty of murder. 

They still have the right to appeal the death sentence.
