Drivers in the capital can no longer ignore red traffic lights as freely as before. To restore discipline on Dhaka’s busy roads, AI-powered cameras have been installed at 12 major intersections and crossings.
According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, more than 300 cases have already been filed within just one week through the new system.
Transport experts believe, the initiative could play an effective role in improving road discipline.
DMP Traffic Division says, the experimental use of the technology began on May 7.
More than 2500 footage records of traffic violations have already been collected.
A-I cameras and traffic signal systems are currently operational at 12 points, including Gulshan and Bijoy Sarani.
