Abu Sayeed trial begins; 24 face warrants

The trial of 30 accused in the murder of Abu Saeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur has begun. The trial  began at International Crimes Tribunal-2  with the framing of formal charges.

Meanwhile, arrest warrants have been issued against 24 people, including former vice-chancellor of Rokeya University. 

 

 

On Wednesday, a three-member panel of Tribunal-2, led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, rejected discharge petitions filed by the 30 accused and ordered the commencement of the trial. 

 

 

Earlier, ASI Amir Hossain, former Proctor of Begum Rokeya University, Shariful Islam, Police Constable Sujan Chandra Roy, Chhatra League members Imran Chowdhury, Rafiul Hasan Russell and Anwar Pervez were produced before the tribunal in connection with the Abu Saeed murder case.
