Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has paid tribute at National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar on Sunday. He laid a wreath at the memorial at around 11:30 am.
After paying his respects, the Acting President stood in silence for a few moments as a bugle sounded, followed by a cere-monial guard of honour presented by members of the three armed services.
He later planted a sapling on the memorial premises and signed the visitors' book.
Afterwards, he visited Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to pay tribute at the graves of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
