Speculation about a change in the presidency of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been circulating for days, with former national cricket team captain Aminul Islam Bulbul frequently mentioned on social media as a potential candidate.

On Wednesday night, sources revealed that the government has been working to replace the current BCB president, Faruk Ahmed.

In a meeting at the residence of Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, Faruk was reportedly urged to resign.

Although Faruk raised specific concerns during the discussion, the adviser did not address them.

Faruk has since requested a day or two to consider his resignation.

It is now understood that the government intends to appoint Aminul Islam Bulbul as interim president.

The speculation intensified after Bulbul returned to Bangladesh a few days ago.

However, earlier in the day, Bulbul confirmed to a prominent media outlet that he is prepared to take on a leadership role.
