NASA’s Artemis II mission astronauts are returning to Earth after orbiting the Moon. During the journey, they witnessed rare sights never seen by humans before.
Four astronauts aboard the Orion space craft experienced a rare total solar eclipse from space. As the spacecraft passed behind the Moon, communication with Earth was lost for about 40 minutes.
Once contact was restored, astronaut Christina Koch said it felt amazing to reconnect with Earth.
During its journey, Orion reached a maximum distance of approximately 4 lakh 6 thousand kilometers from Earth, setting a new record for human space travel.
Although the spacecraft did not land on the Moon, the astronauts conducted important observations and collected scientific data from the Moon’s far side.
