NCP leaders Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan and Hasnat Abdullah have denied allegations that they personally received large sums of money from Cumilla District Council funds.
They insist the allocations were spent on development projects in accordance with government regulations.
The controversy emerged after District Council Administrator Mostak Mia alleged that Tk 15 crore was allocated to Muradnagar and Tk 10 crore to Debidwar.
Responding to the claims, both leaders said the funds were approved government allocations and were used for public development projects rather than personal gain.
Authorities have indicated that the projects may be reviewed to ensure proper use of public funds.
