August 5: Anniversary of Blood-Earned July uprising

The nation today commemorates the anniversary of the historic July Uprising, a turning point in the country’s political landscape that was achieved through the bloodshed and sacrifice of students and mass people.

Various events are being held across Dhaka and throughout the country in remembrance of the July martyrs, with processions, public gatherings and symbolic acts taking place to honor their legacy. 

 

 

One of the day’s most dramatic and symbolic events took place outside the National Press Club, where a mock execution of Sheikh Hasina was carried out at 10:40 am. 

 

 

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus will read the ‘July Declaration’ at the South Plaza of the National Parliament at 5 pm. There will be a special drone show at 7:30 pm and a musical concert at 8 pm. 

 

 

The July Uprising has become a pivotal point in the country’s collective memory, symbolizing the struggle for democracy and resistance against autocratic rule.
