An awareness campaign promoting Bangla QR transactions and encouraging their use in everyday financial activities has been held this morning in front of Bangladesh Bank’s headquarters in Motijheel.
To reduce fraud and the risks associated with cash transactions, Bangla QR will be relaunched on a large scale from July 1. As part of efforts to popularize digital payments across the country, Bangladesh Bank has taken the initiative to distribute 1 lakh 50 thousand smartphones in the first phase.
At the same time, the existing QR services of 16 banks and financial institutions will be integrated under the Bangla QR platform. Under the new system, there will be no maximum or minimum transaction limit for Bangla QR payments.
The transaction charge will be capped at Tk 11 per thousand or a maximum rate of 0.6 percent.
