At least seven people have been killed in separate landslide incidents triggered by torrential rain in Bangladesh's southeastern districts of Bandarban and Cox's Bazar. Five people died in two landslides in Lama Upazila, while two children lost their lives in Chakaria.
According to the Fire Service, the first landslide struck Mission Para in Aziznagar Union of Lama at around 4:00 a.m., burying a house while the family was asleep.
Three members of the same family Mohammad Yunus, his wife Ranu Akter, and their five-year-old son Mohammad Soleman were killed after being trapped under the debris.
Firefighters and police recovered the bodies. About two hours later, another landslide in the same area killed two including a man and his wife.
Meanwhile, in Chakaria of Cox's Bazar, two children from the same family were killed in a separate landslide.
