On the occasion of the poet's birth anniversary, family members, political leaders, students, and people from all walks of life paid tribute by placing flowers at his grave in the University of Dhaka area. 

Vice Chancellor A B M Obaidul Islam said, the study and practice of Nazrul’s works should become a powerful message against communalism and social division. 

Meanwhile, senior BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi described Nazrul as a major inspiration in the struggle against fascism and oppression.
