Bangladeshi swimmer Samiul Islam Rafi has shone at the Open Senior Championship held in Bangkok, Thailand, winning one gold and one bronze medal at the international competition.
On Saturday, Rafi secured the gold medal in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 24.33 seconds, finishing first and setting a new tournament record.
The previous best timing in this event at the SEA Games was 24.40 seconds. Rafi also won a bronze medal in the 50-meter butterfly event.
The competition featured 60 teams and clubs from 16 countries, including 44 clubs from host Thailand.
Rafi participated in the tournament with the overall support of the Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Bangladesh Navy.
