Today is the 81st birthday of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. To mark the day, doa and miladmahfils will be held at all mosques and BNP offices across the country.
Leaders and activists of the BNP have been instructed not to cut cakes while marking the 81st birthday of the party chairperson.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General RuhulKabir Rizvi.Originally a housewife, Khaleda Zia entered national politics following the assassination of her husband, former President Ziaur Rahman, on 30 May 1981.
She was first elected BNP vice-chairperson and later became the party’s chairperson in 1984.Khaleda Zia served three terms as Prime Minister under BNP governments: from 1991 to 1996, briefly in 1996, and again from 2001 to 2006.
