After nearly eight years, the Thakurgaon District unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is holding its long-awaited conference.
The event has been formally inaugurated at 11:15 am by the hoisting of the national and party flags by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman also joined the conference virtually from London, adding significance to the occasion.
A total of 808 councilors are casting their votes through a secret ballot to elect the new leadership.
Party leaders and grassroots activists have welcomed this democratic process, praising the transparency and inclusive nature of the selection.
The conference marks a renewed effort by the BNP to strengthen its organizational structure at the district level and reinvigorate its grassroots support in the region.
