Noor Chowdhury is one of the self-confessed killers of Bangabandhu. Although not receiving political asylum, he is living in Canada illegally. Local Awami League leaders and activists have held various programs to send him back to the country.

However, due to legal complications, this murderer, cannot be sent back to the country. Five of the self-confessed killers of Bangabandhu's family are still on the run.

Although the identification of two of them have been found, no one knows where the rest three are. The demand for their return to the country and execution of the death sentence has been long.

On July 5, 1996, he entered Canada through the American border and asked for political asylum. His application was rejected four times by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

Under Canadian law, a person sentenced to death cannot be sent back if they seek political asylum. Even if the accused is sent to death, he should be sent to his country of entry.

Most Bangladeshis living in Canada are hoping to bring this murderer back to the country and execute him as soon as possible.
