Bangladesh government has asked the authorities concerned of all Bangladeshi diplomatic missions, embassies, high commissions, consulates, diplomats’ offices and residences abroad to remove portraits of President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the special directive on Saturday through phone calls made separately to the embassies, according to a source of the ministry.
To oversee the process, one ambassador has been assigned for each region, who will ensure that the president’s portraits are taken down from all missions.
With the implementation of this directive, no portraits of any head of state or government will be displayed in Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions abroad.
