The poverty rate in the villages of Bangladesh was 20.5 percent in Household and Economic Survey, which has decreased to 20.3 percent in the Poverty Map of Bangladesh 2022 survey.
On the other hand, poverty in urban areas has increased by 1.8 percent.
Earlier, the poverty rate in urban areas was 14.7 percent, which has now increased to 16.5 percent. The highest poverty rate is in Barisal division, and the lowest poverty rate is in Chittagong.
Poverty rate in Rangpur is 25 percent, in Rajshahi 16.3 percent, in Sylhet 18.5 percent, in Mymensingh 22.6 percent, in Khulna 17.1 percent, and in Dhaka Division is 19.6 percent.
