Begum Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital on November 23 after falling ill. She had been suffering from multiple complications related to diabetes, kidney disease, heart ailments, and lung problems.
On the night of November 27, as her condition deteriorated, she was shifted from her cabin to the CCU and later to the ICU.
Despite all possible efforts, her health did not improve, and it was not possible to take her abroad for advanced treatment.
Her medical care was overseen by a medical board comprising local and foreign specialists, led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder.
From London, her son Tarique Rahman, daughter-in-law Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and her personal physician Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain were in constant contact and regularly inquired about her condition.
Meanwhile, Tarique Rahman returned to the country and visited Evercare Hospital several times as well as on monday night. His wife and other family members also visited the hospital.
