During an internal meeting of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, he admitted his mistake and accepted responsibility for his past actions.

According to reports, Gates first met Epstein in 2011 after Epstein had already been convicted of sex crimes. 

Their contact continued until 2014 and included several meetings abroad. 

Gates said it was wrong to keep in touch and to allow officials to meet him. 

However, he denied ever visiting Epstein’s private island or staying at his residence. 

The foundation also confirmed that there were no financial dealings or funds received from Epstein.
