Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has said, that the destruction of the natural environment is driving the world toward inevitable disaster.
Speaking at a World Environment Day event on Wednesday at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Center in Dhaka, Dr. Yunus emphasized the urgent need to protect the environment to ensure the survival of all living beings.
Criticizing current development practices, Dr. Yunus said, the development cannot be considered true progress if it comes at the cost of environmental destruction.
He particularly highlighted the growing threat of plastic pollution, warning that if the use of plastic and other pollutants is not stopped immediately, environmental collapse will be unavoidable.
The event, held in observance of World Environment Day, brought together environmentalists, government officials, and youth leaders to discuss ways to promote sustainability and raise awareness about environmental issues.
