Buddha Purnima, the biggest religious festival of the Buddhist community, is being celebrated across the country with deep religious solemnity.
In the morning, the formal observance began at Buddhist monasteries in Rangamati with the hoisting of the Buddhist flag.
The day’s activities included religious rituals such as Sangha Dan, donation of Buddha statues, Buddha worship, Panchashila prayers, and offering of Ashta-pariskar. Prayers were also offered seeking peace and welfare for people all over the world.
Earlier, a colorful procession started from Maitri Vihar in Bana-rupa and paraded through the main roads of the town before concluding at Ananda Vihar.
The procession was inaugurated by District Council Chairman Kajal Talukder.
