Following the rise in fuel prices, bus fares have been increased by 11 paisa per kilometer. In Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, bus and minibus fares have risen from 2.42 taka to 2.53 taka per kilometer. For long-distance routes, fares have increased from 2.12 taka to 2.23 taka per kilometer.
The announcement of the revised fares was made at the Secretariat by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam.
On April 18, the government announced an increase in fuel prices. The new prices took effect from midnight on April 19.
After that, bus owners and workers quickly pushed for higher transport fares across the country.
Bus fares had previously been increased in 2022 following a rise in fuel prices.
