According to Reuters, the fatalities occurred at a nursing home in Taishitun, Miyun District, where 69 residents were present when water levels rose rapidly.

Forty individuals were trapped inside due to the sudden flooding.

 Local officials admitted that the facility had long been considered in a safe zone, which delayed evacuation efforts. 

Rescuers struggled with adverse weather, and many of the deceased were reportedly mobility-impaired. Authorities also reported 31 people still missing across Beijing and neighboring Hebei Province. 

Several areas around the capital have experienced landslides due to the ongoing deluge.
