Construction work of Bangladesh–China Economic Zone has officially today in Anwara, Chattogram, marking a significant milestone in bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.
The economic zone will be developed under a government-to-government arrangement on nearly 783 acres of land along the eastern bank of the Karnaphuli River.
The project is expected to attract around 500 million US dollars in investment, with land acquisition already completed.
Full-scale infrastructure construction will begin following the signing of the developer agreement.
The project is estimated to cost 4,189 crore taka, including 2,467 crore taka in foreign loan assistance and 1,722 crore taka from the government.
Implementation is scheduled from January 2027 through December 2031.
