Thousands of mourners have gathered at Tehran's Grand Mosalla to pay their final respects to former Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Large crowds attended the funeral ceremony as preparations continued for public farewell events.
According to the practice script, millions of people gathered inside Tehran's Grand Mosalla to pay their last respects to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family.
Mourners traveled from across the country to attend the funeral.
The script says the body will be placed at Freedom Square before being taken to Karbala and Najaf in Iraq on July 8.
It also states that the final burial will take place in Mashhad, Iran, on July 9.
Iraqi authorities are said to have declared a public holiday in ten provinces for the farewell ceremonies.
