A powerful explosion at a shipyard in New York’s Staten Island has killed one person and injured at least 36 others.
The blast incident occured on Friday while firefighters were trying to put out a fire at a dry dock.
New York Mayor, Zohran Mamdani said, firefighters and rescue workers carrying out operations when the explosion suddenly occurred.
Among the injured, thirty-four are members of the fire and rescue services.
Officials say, one fire marshal suffered a serious brain injury and remains in critical condition.
More than two hundred fire and medical personnel joined efforts to control the situation.
The authority say, a formal investigation into the cause of the explosion will begin after the fire is completely extinguished.
