The explosion took place on Sunday evening at Barzan Gas Supply Limited, a gas plant in Qatar’s Ras Laffan area. 

Qatar Energy and the country’s Interior Ministry confirmed the incident. 

According to the ministry, the accident happened due to a mechanical fault. 

Fire fighters and civil defense teams worked for several hours to bring the fire under control. 

Search operations are continuing to find the missing people.
