Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Dr. Ali Riaz said, the implementation of the much-discussed July Charter will depend on the political parties' commitment.

He made this remarks this morning during the seventh day of the second phase of dialogue between political parties held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.

The meeting focused on un-resolved reform proposals that have become key sticking points in the negotiation process.

One of the most debated topics was the formation of a new body to oversee appointments to constitutional and statutory institutions.

Initially, the NCC had proposed forming a National Consensus Council (NCC) for this purpose.

However, the idea was later revised in favor of a more limited body named the "Committee for Appointments to Constitutional and Statutory Bodies."

This shift aimed to reduce direct political influence, but was met with resistance from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), which argued that such a committee would encroach upon the executive's authority.
