According to the Department of Health, 38 percent of children are suffering from this disease. 26 children have died so far this year. In last 10 months 75 people have died and more then 22 thousand people have been affected.

The capital has witnessed the highest number of dengue cases. Moreover, the directorate has also given information that this rate is higher in Cox's Bazar district. According to the department, the number of dengue patients is increasing because there is a gap in dengue control. On the other hand the condition of patients is getting complicated as they come to the hospital late. Six percent of the victims are between 1 and 4 years old. So far, it is within the capacity of the Department of Health to issue medical certificates to the number of dengue patients in the hospital. But day by day that number is increasing.
