The much-awaited Dhaka Elevated Expressway will partially open on September 2. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the section from Airport to Farmgate on this day. After that, the new project will be launched for public use.
The main project is from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Qutubkhali next to Jatrabari. It will be connected to the southern and eastern roads of the country.
The 11.5 km long route can be accessed from 13 places. But there is no opportunity for pedestrians, motorcycles and three-wheelers. The toll has already been determined.
Private cars, microbuses, pickups and light trucks are charged at Tk 80, medium trucks at Tk 320, heavy trucks at Tk 400 and minibuses and buses at Tk 160.
Communication experts said, the toll rate is acceptable considering the facilities that will be created if this project is launched.
