Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said, the existing law is not sufficient to effectively control narcotics, and therefore the drug control and prevention act will soon be amended.
Speaking at a briefing at Secretariat, the minister stated that those involved in the drug trade operate with armed groups. However, the operational teams of the Department of Narcotics Control have neither weapons nor adequate capabilities. He added that the government is working to strengthen the capacity of the Department of Narcotics Control to improve its effectiveness in combating drug-related crimes.
