The European Union believes that earning the trust of new voters is a major challenge for the Election Commission. However, the EU team has expressed satisfaction over Commission’s early preparations for the upcoming elections.
As the 13th National Parliamentary Election approaches, a four-member European Union delegation met Chief Election Commissioner A.M.M. Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission building in Agargaon on Tuesday.
After the meeting, EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller briefed the media. He said the EU sees the plan to hold a referendum for implementing the July Charter as a positive step.
The EU is preparing a large election observer team, and Michael Miller added that the EU will continue to support efforts to ensure a free and fair election.
