European Union has proposed a 20th round of sanctions against Russia to halt the war in Ukraine, including the possibility of full sanctions on Russia’s oil and gas sector as well as maritime services.
European Commission says, the new sanctions aim to force Moscow to make concessions and come to the negotiating table.
On Friday, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that Russia is deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas, making increased pressure essential.
Under the proposed measures, maritime services for Russian oil tankers would be banned, along with restrictions targeting Russia’s shadow fleet, banking system, cryptocurrency transactions, and metal sector.
