Country’s only state-owned oil refinery, Eastern Refinery Limited, has resumed operations after remaining shut down for nearly three weeks due to a shortage of crude oil.
Production restarted at full capacity early in the morning after the arrival of one lac tone of crude oil from Saudi Arabia.
Currently, the refinery is processing around 4,500 tone of crude oil daily. Another tanker, named MT Fossil, carrying an additional 1 lac tone of crude oil, is expected to arrive later this month.
Owing to the shortage of crude oil, two out of the refinery’s four units were completely shut down on April 15.
