Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo have said, the death toll from the latest Ebola outbreak has risen to 247, while the total number of infections has reached 956.
Officials confirmed the latest figures on Saturday, warning that the outbreak remains in an upward trend, particularly in the eastern provinces of Ituri and North Kivu.
Authorities reported 23 new cases and two additional deaths on Friday alone.
The majority of infections have been recorded in Ituri province, where 874 cases and 201 deaths have been confirmed, accounting for more than 91 percent of all infections nationwide.
The current outbreak of the Bundi-bugyo strain of Ebola began in Congo last month.
