According to the government's latest report, the total number of confirmed infections has reached 1759. 

The report, released on Wednesday also said, at least 51 new cases were recorded over the past 24 hours, while 20 more people have died. 

Two additional suspected Ebola cases have also been identified in  the capital of Tshopo Province. 

Meanwhile, worsening conditions have prompted healthcare workers in the hardest-hit Ituri Province to begin a strike in protest over delays in salary and allowance payments.
