Former Bangladeshi lawmaker and entrepreneur Selima Ahmad has died at the age of 65. She passed away at a hospital in Thailand on Sunday.
Selima Ahmad had been suffering from cancer for a long time.
Several business organizations expressed condolences following her death.
She was a well-known figure in Bangladesh’s women entrepreneurship movement and served as the founding president of the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
She was also the vice-chairperson of Nitol-Niloy Group and was active in politics.
Selima Ahmad was elected as a member of parliament from Cumilla-2 constituency in 2018.
Her husband, Abdul Matlub Ahmad, is a former president of FBCCI and chairman of Nitol-Niloy Group.
