Meanwhile, Brazil were held to a goalless draw against Ecuador on Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching debut. Brazil struggled to break down Ecuador’s organized defense.
Vinicius Jr. had the best first-half chance, but his shot was saved. Brazil created more opportunities after the break, but Richarlison failed to capitalize on a perfect pass from Vinicius.
The draw leaves Ecuador second in the table with 24 points, while Brazil, with 22, sits fourth and still faces a tough road ahead.
