Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has stated that holding a free and fair election is not possible without government co-operation, despite the Election Commission's (EC) independence.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a training session on electoral laws in capital's Agargaon on Saturday morning, the CEC emphasized that cooperation from the government is essential for conducting national elections.
He said discussions with the government will be held in due time, as elections cannot be organized in isolation.
CEC also said, the election schedule will be announced at the appropriate time.
Nasir Uddin also confirmed that both formal and informal dialogues with the government are ongoing to ensure smooth election management.
