According to political analysts three key factors may influence women’s voting decisions in national polls. These are freedom to work according to merit, security, and the overall welfare of the country.

However, the Analysts believe women’s votes will be the “game changer” in this election. They say, this time, the country has a total of 12 crore 76 lakh 95 thousand and183 voters, of those 6 crores 28 lakh 79 thousand and 22 are women—meaning women constitute nearly half of the electorate.

But where does women’s participation stand this time, and what do they want? They question.

However, in 1991 election, BNP came to power with 31 percent of the vote, when women voters accounted for 57 percent. In 1996, women’s voter participation fell to 35 percent, and BNP lost that election.

In 2001, women’s voter turnout rose again to 57 percent, and BNP secured a majority.

According to the analysts, whichever way women’s votes go, the balance of victory follows.
