Heavy rainfall and upstream waters from India have inundated four villages in Feni districts.

Owing to the rainfall and upstream water caused embankments' breach on Muhuri and Silonia rivers in Feni.

The breaches occurred on Thursday night in Bonikpara along the Muhuri River and in Goshaipur along the Silonia River.

The flooding areas including, North Baroiya, South Baroiya, Bonikpara, and Basantapur. The water also entered the local vegetable market near Fulgazi town.

The residents blamed Water Development Board for inadequate repairs, especially following last year’s devastating floods.

While the Board claims water levels are still below the danger mark, it attributes the rising flow to heavy upstream rainfall and says efforts to secure vulnerable embankments are ongoing.
