At least 32 people, including 16 children, have died in flooding triggered by heavy rains across four provinces in Pakistan over the past two days.

The casualties include 19 in Khyber Pakhtun-khwa, five in Punjab, four in Sindh, and four in Balochistan.

Following the deaths of nine members of a single family in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Swat administration, four senior officials from the district administration and emergency rescue services have been suspended.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has ordered a full investigation, with a report due within a week.

Authorities claim prior warnings were issued via mosque loudspeakers, and they are now examining how such a tragedy occurred despite the alerts.
