Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) ATM Shamsul Huda has passed away at the age of 83.
He breathed his last around 9 am today at his residence in Gulshanin the capital
He was later taken to United Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
According to family sources, his namaz-e-janaza will be held once his daughter returns from the United States.
He is survived by his wife and a daughter. ATM Shamsul Huda served as the Chief Election Commissioner who oversaw the ninth parliamentary election in Bangladesh, held in 2008.
His tenure is often remembered for efforts to restore credibility to the electoral process following a period of political turmoil.
