France has issued a strong warning to the United States over Greenland issue, stating that any attempt to seize Greenland would be considered crossing a red line for the European Union.
French Finance Minister, Ronald Lescure made the remark as US President Donald Trump warned of imposing new tariffs on countries opposing his plan to take control of Greenland.
In an interview with the British daily Financial Times, Lescure said, Greenland is a sovereign territory and part of European Union.
Any move by US would seriously strain EU–US economic relations.
He further warned that if US would take military or aggressive action in Greenland, it could lead to major changes in the global order.
