In Dhaka, open playgrounds are once again being turned into temporary cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, raising concerns over shrinking recreational spaces for children and growing urban inconvenience.
Sources say, at least 15 temporary cattle markets to be set up in Dhaka North and 11 in Dhaka South this year, though tender processes are still incomplete in several cases.
Meanwhile, experts warn that starting preparations before official approval violates leasing conditions.
As the playgrounds are being turn into cattle markets, the residents of the city questioned, whether the city corporations can finally handle the situation for the betterment of the mega-city.
